Widely distributed around New Zealand, most common off the east coast of the North Island, in 300 to 800 m (Ref. 9258). Recorded as scarce in the Northeastern and Eastern Chatham Rise (Ref. 87166). First record in the Chatham Islands (Ref. 45493). Also Ref. 4329, 31632.
